ATTRIBUTES OF SATAN

THE ADVERSARY

ImageMany are the attributes of  Satan, the great enemy of the children of God. Names synonymous with him are adversary, deceiver, accuser of the brethren, father of lies to name a few. Today, I was compelled to discuss in attributes of Satan.

When we find ourselves acting opposite to God character, to his good nature, we often say that this person is just that way. It is important to examine ourselves to see if we are in fact exhibiting characteristics of Satan. Once we give ourselves to Christ, we belong to Him(Jesus). That means that we should begin to foster good will to others and also do all to dwell peaceably with all people.

So let’s examine one of is(Satan) popular characteristic. The adversary of the people of God. In the scriptures it is worded this way…

“the adversary playing the role of prosecuting attorney in a heavenly court with God and the angels (Job 1:6 & Zechariah 3:1-2 & 1 Peter 5:8)” Douglas S. Winnail had this to say regarding the adversary of God’s people. He wrote the below paragraph in a study topic named KNOW YOUR ADVERSARY. This topic is exposes the Satan as our adversary, read below: The Apostle Peter was inspired to write, “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8–9). Peter is warning his fellow Christians about a life or death matter! Peter cautions that we must be ready to resist Satan—indicating that it will not be easy. Numerous other scriptures make it abundantly clear why Peter wrote so strongly on this subject. But where did Peter get the idea that Satan is our adversary? And why is it important for us to understand this subject today? Most people and even Christians, disregard this piece of scripture. How do you treat your fellow Christians? Do you mis treat your neighbors? Do you antagonize your wife or your husband? Are you unfair in the chastisement of your children? Do create chaos at work? These bad characteristics are not of GOD. They do reveal the nature of your heart. Now if you do not resemble Christ in your thoughts and actions then you are truly resembling Satan. Take note of your thoughts.

Below is a brief list of definitions regarding the word adversary.

  1. I think we all have at 1 time or another not shown the love of Christ in our actions, I think that as long as you have confessed with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord You Shell be saved. and as long as you are saved, if you act ungodly from time to time I think it’s in the human nature to do so. even though we should all strive to be as Christ like it’s possible most of the time if not all the time.
