A few days ago, I received a phone call from the rental property manager. She said, I owed $50 for court fees because my last payment was late. Anger rose as did my voice. I said, where is it in the lease agreement that states this. First she said yes, then she offered additional time to pay. Filled with rage, I said just evict me and hung up the phone. That night as I reread the lease, the Spirit put on my heart, the ugliness that I shown in the conversation, especially since the woman offered me Mercy– extended time to pay the bill. The next day, I prayed the Lord would allow her to be in the office. I not only paid the bill, but I apologized to the manager face to face. We had a pleasant conversation, and she said, I appreciate this apology very much. That’s spiritual growth—humbling yourself, true repentance, recognizing when you are wrong in the midst of a squeeze.
